CISS is an ICT competency centre supported by the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation. The centre is based at Aalborg University and is accordingly anchored in a number of Denmark’s leading research environments.

Our researchers possess a wide range of competences within electronics and IT, and the purpose of the centre is to facilitate collaborations between research and industry – for the benefit of research, business and society.

Our board is constituted of representatives from both research environments and industry. The day-to-day management is in the hands of an executive committee, whose main responsibilities are management, scientific and commercial coordination, marketing and administration of finances.

Being anchored in both the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Electronic Systems, we have access to a large number of researchers working within our focus areas in collaboration with interested businesses.

In addition, we employ a number of PhD students, who all work closely together with industrial partners in their research.

The wireless crop sprayer
Imagine that you're an agricultural contractor and would like to know where all your machines are at any given moment and what they are doing. Or that you're a farmer sitting at home in front of your computer, wanting to plan tomorrow's field spraying - and send the spraying schedule back to the tractor's 'computer'.
