The overall goal of CISS has been to launch as many joint projects between research and industry as possible, partly with a view to a quicker exchange of research results and a more efficient turnover of new knowledge into new products, and partly with a view to presenting the three university groups behind CISS with new research challenges, which are based, as usual, on specific problems in the companies.
Imagine that you're an agricultural contractor and would like to know where all your machines are at any given moment and what they are doing. Or that you're a farmer sitting at home in front of your computer, wanting to plan tomorrow's field spraying - and send the spraying schedule back to the tractor's 'computer'.
