Research areas

CISS is among the leading research environments within embedded software systems, not only in Denmark but also in Europe. We work with 11 different focal areas within the field of embedded software. Within each area, we conduct research to gain new knowledge and develop new methods and processes to the advantage of our collaborators, it being companies, other research institutions or something entirely different.

By far the largest number of our business collaborations are interdisciplinary, giving companies access to the specific competences that are needed to solve their problems. One of the severest possible after-effects of a traffic accident is getting a spinal cord injury. In the US, almost a quarter of a million people are paraplegics, while in Denmark the number is ‘only’ 3,000. About half of these are tetraplegics – which means that they are paralysed from the neck down. These people need assistance for everything.
