Embedded software

Embedded software - also often called intelligent embedded software - constitutes software that is integrated into mechanical applications. This may be a refrigerator, a device for measuring blood pressure, a car or a production robot - that is, applications which are not in themselves computers. By using embedded software rather than e.g. mechanisms or electronics, it is possible to infuse the application with far more capabilities and potentials for use - and improve its performance, stability and security.

Embedded software can be found in our everyday life to an increasing degree - in fact, 80 % of all existing software is embedded. On these page, you can read about embedded software and where it is used - and maybe be inspired as to how you can utilise embedded software in your products or production machinery.

The wireless crop sprayer
Imagine that you're an agricultural contractor and would like to know where all your machines are at any given moment and what they are doing. Or that you're a farmer sitting at home in front of your computer, wanting to plan tomorrow's field spraying - and send the spraying schedule back to the tractor's 'computer'.
