Smart city

Gathering data from the Internet of Things is one thing – utilizing data from open data sources and provide useful services to the citizens of a city is smart. Public transportation, parking lots and garbage collection is some of the known areas of monitoring to provide for instance a decision support App for daily use. The public sector in general and local authorities are paying close attention to embedded software these years or at least the possibilities and pitfalls that comes with IoT and embedded technology.

At CISS we are working with analysing and understanding big data in the context of Smart City, especially focusing on Transportation and Energy. At CISS we conduct the research that makes the foundation for implementing Smart City technology.

While transportation and energy might seem far from embedded software systems, CISS’ research provides algorithms and answers to address the complexity of Smart Cities.
